Compare CCleaner:

Since its launch in 2004, CCleaner has established itself as a global leader in the field of computer optimisation and cleaning. Developed by the British company Piriform (now a subsidiary of Avast), CCleaner is designed to improve PC performance, protect users’ privacy and free up disk space in just a few clicks.

But CCleaner is more than just a cleaning tool. It is also a fully-fledged maintenance assistant: uninstalling programmes, managing browser extensions, searching for duplicate files and analysing the health of your PC are just some of the features that make life easier for users.

FAQ – CCleaner for home users:

What are the differences between CCleaner Professional and CCleaner Professional Plus?

Whilst CCleaner Professional is an advanced cleaning tool that enables real-time monitoring of your device, automatic software updates and optimisation of your PC’s start-up, CCleaner Professional Plus is a pack of four premium tools that includes CCleaner Professional (system optimisation), Recuva (recovery of accidentally deleted files), Defraggler (advanced defragmentation) and Speccy (detailed hardware analysis).

Are the tools included in CCleaner Professional Plus (such as Recuva or Defraggler) integrated into the programme or provided as separate software programmes?

The four premium software programmes included in the CCleaner Professional Plus package are provided as separate programmes to be downloaded and installed individually, each with its own licence.

Is the price of CCleaner Professional Plus justified given the additional features it offers?

Yes, the value for money of CCleaner Professional Plus is worth considering because buying each piece of software separately works out more expensive. The bundle offered by CCleaner Professional Plus is good value for money if you need features such as file recovery or hardware scanning to detect hardware problems before they occur, thereby helping you to prevent breakdowns that cost you time and may result in the loss of some of your data.

What types of files or data can be recovered using Recuva in the CCleaner Professional Plus version?

Recuva is a piece of software included in CCleaner Professional Plus which allows you to recover deleted or lost files following a system crash or formatting (photos, videos, text documents, spreadsheets, music, etc.).
Recuva also allows you to recover deleted files from USB sticks, hard drives and SD cards. It supports several file system types (FAT, NTFS, exFAT) and also offers a deep scan mode.

Is the defragmentation tool (Defraggler) included in CCleaner Professional Plus more effective than the built-in Windows tool?

Yes, Defraggler offers more precise control than the Windows tool. It is more flexible and detailed, particularly for advanced users.
Defraggler allows for advanced defragmentation scheduling at file or folder level. It provides a visual display of the defragmentation process and supports both HDD and SSD drives (optimised mode)

FAQ – CCleaner for Business:

What is the difference between CCleaner Cloud and CCleaner Free?

CCleaner Free is a local software programme intended solely for personal use. It allows you to clean your PC manually, without advanced automation or remote management.
On the other hand, CCleaner Cloud is a centralised online solution, accessible via a web console. It enables you to manage dozens or hundreds of computers remotely, schedule clean-ups, automate maintenance tasks, receive alerts and generate comprehensive reports and hardware/software audits.

Who is CCleaner Cloud designed for?

CCleaner Cloud is primarily aimed at managed service providers (MSPs), network administrators and IT technicians who want to keep computers up to date and running efficiently without having to physically access each machine. CCleaner Cloud enables truly proactive maintenance of IT fleets, with the ability to automate and schedule most device optimisation tasks.

How do you generate software or hardware audit reports using CCleaner Cloud?

CCleaner Cloud features a built-in audit function. To generate an audit report, go to your CCleaner Cloud console > Reports (or Inventory) > Select «Software Audit» or «Hardware Audit». The report displays the hardware components (CPU, RAM, hard drive, graphics card), the installed software, their versions and the licences.
Reports can be exported as CSV or PDF files for archiving or client reporting.

• Clearing temporary files, caches and cookies
• Cleaning the Windows registry
• Management of start-up programmes
• Uninstalling software
• Automatic updating of outdated software
• Antivirus/malware scanning (depending on third-party integrations)
